What are keywords in relation to my CV?

Keywords are expected words, phrases, duties or job titles that describe specific job requirements. They will relate to the skills, expertise and competencies that the recruiter is looking for in a candidate.

Never make a false statement about your abilities or skills just to ‘keyword stuff’ your CV. All statements made should relate to attributes and qualities you actually possess.

Super handy hint ~ Read the job advert!

The job advert is your best source of information about what the prospective employer is looking for. Often this is broken down into ‘must haves’ and ‘highly desired.’ Read carefully and tailor your cover letter and CV accordingly, using the same language as appropriate.
